Widows
ACT Youth is apart of ACT (African Child Trust - registered charity 1074911). ACT funds the education of fatherless and orphaned children, who other wise would not get an education. We also support widows in their every day practical needs.

We believe this will help break the cycle of poverty in Africa.

ACT is currently working in 6 different countries in Africa, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda.

ACT
is also providing skills training for widows to help them start their own businesses in order to sustain their families.

A training programme in business skills for widows has been devised to encourage them to become self sufficient. This was devised by ACT partners in Burkina Faso, this has been very successful and is now used by all our partners in all 6 countries that ACT is working in at present.

ACT provides funding for the children of widows and also orphans to compete their education so that they are equiped to chieve their full potential in life. Our vision is that they can become productive workers able to support their widowed mothers and their families when they grow up.

Our sponsorship program, provides for a childs school fees, equipment needed for school, clothing and shoes. We also use the money to provide food, and take care of the families health care in urgent situations.

Make the difference in a childs life today! (>Sponsor a Child<)

Where ACT Works Community VSO
Where ACT works The community is right at the heart of ACT in funding the education of the children of widows in Africa. ACT is working in partnership with those who are best placed to recognise the families with the most need within the community.

These are well established local Chistian churches, schools or other organisations who share the same vision of supporting people in need.

By funding the education of the fatherless children and orphans the entire community benefits. Teachers are employed and the need to provide schools supplied creates job opportunities within the community. All of these contribute to breaking the long-term cycle of poverty and demonstrate a caring attitude in a practical way to those who are most in need.
ACT is now partnering with VSO. Which will enable people to be sent on short term placements where ACT works.Training and equiping people in various trades, sikills etc...

Which is a very exciting prospect for all of us @ ACT
